Wemby and the Spurs Defeat Thunder to Advance to the NBA Finals

Returning to the biggest stage, the San Antonio Spurs are officially back! The San Antonio Spurs beat the odds in a historic Western Conference Finals matchup at the Paycom Center, defeating the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder 111-103 in a memorable Game 7. Victor Wembanyama gave Spurs fans thrills to see him win the MVP award in the Western Conference Finals. Wemby anchored the defense and scored 22 points, grabbed seven boards, and made three clutch triples in an incredible performance. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of OKC scored a scorching 35 points, but San Antonio's youthful core showed championship-level calmness to secure the team's first NBA Finals trip since 2014.

The supporting cast came through when it counted most, even though Wembanyama controlled the paint and handled late-game foul trouble. Stephon Castle, a rookie talent, contributed a tough 16 points and 6 assists, while Julian Champagnie was unstoppable from beyond the arc, sinking six three-pointers to end with 20 points. The Silver and Black took control of the game from the first tip as the Thunder were unable to match San Antonio's scorching 42.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Now, as the rising Spurs return home to host the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals coming Wednesday, the basketball world gets ready for an incredible matchup.
