Caitlin Clark: Is she a ringless G.O.A.T.?

Caitlin Clark will finish her college basketball career ringless. She helped lead Iowa to the National Championship game 2 years in a row but came up short both times. It wasn't of due to lack of effort however as Clark scored 30 points in the loss to South Carolina in the championship on Sunday. Eighteen of the points came in the 1st quarter, as South Carolina was able to frustrate her during the rest of the game. Many people have put her in the G.O.A.T. conversation, but can you be the G.O.A.T. if you are ringless?

In my opinion the answer is no. Caitlin Clark managed to break Pistol Pete's scoring record, but I don't remember many people saying Pistol Pete was the G.O.A.T. The objective of the game is to win a championship and if you never win in the end, then how can you possibly be the G.O.A.T.? Don't get me wrong, clark is definitely one of the greats, but there are players who put up these kinds of numbers before the 3-point shot was even allowed such as Pistol Pete and Lynette Woodard.
